Sleepcycle pct_cough_2_plus_7dav (state level, differentially-private noised) against NHSN confirmed admissions and NSSP ED visit percentages for flu and COVID. Built by the sleepcycle_eda targets project; every object below is read from a data target.
Caveat: all three sources use their latest vintage as of the render date, not real-time as-of data. NHSN’s recent weeks are revised heavily, so lead/lag results here are optimistic for forecasting use.

43 states report; AK, WY, MT, ND, SD, VT, WV, MS and territories are absent. The archive only goes back to April 2026, so earlier values are single backfilled versions.
Code
n_keys <- sc_archive |>filter(signal =="pct_cough_2_plus_7dav") |>distinct(geo_value, reference_time) |>nrow()cat(sprintf("%.1f%% of state-days were ever revised; median |relative change| %.2f%%, p99 %.1f%%.\n",100*n_distinct(paste(sc_revisions$geo_value, sc_revisions$reference_time)) / n_keys,100*median(abs(sc_revisions$rel_change)), 100*quantile(abs(sc_revisions$rel_change), 0.99)))
10.4% of state-days were ever revised; median |relative change| 0.62%, p99 8.2%.
Noise by state
The noise sd is approximated as CI width / 3.92. Signal-to-noise compares the spread of the weekly signal to that noise.
Lagged correlation of cough at week t with the target at week t + lag (positive lag: cough leads). Levels are inflated by shared seasonality, so the week-over-week log change is the number to watch.
